SPC – seasons

We’re entering the dry season here in Darwin. It’s definitely the season for doing everything outdoors. This is the view from an outdoor restaurant I went to for a friend’s birthday this week. (also – boy do I need a haircut)

pears, pears, pears … I’m in love with the slightly green pears available recently, this is me carrying home my fifth or so (recycled plastic) bag of pears, yum!

I managed to take these with one hand while cycling.

Other streets here.

My fave for the week is this one.

tagged

Wow, I wrote this weeks ago and didn’t reailse I hadn’t posted it.

I’ve been tagged for my first meme by Bogi. To be honest I’m only really partly taking part – since I have’nt been blogging for very long and I don’t feel like I know anyone well enough to pass it on I’m just going to list my seven things you might not know.

1) I grew up in an outback town of 700 ricefarmers (yep, irrigate the arid zone to grow rice, very sustainable), as the daughter of a highschool teacher. I havn’t been back there in 10 years.

2) I’ve moved 15 times since 1993. That includes 5 cities in two countries.

3) The public library is one of my favorite places. I love reading “young adult” fiction.

4) I wish kindness came more easily to me. I try but when I’m flustered it flies out the window.

5) I love growing plants.

6) My first job was working part time in a fabric/haberdashery store.

7) I played drums in my highschool band – I was horribe at it.

If anyone wants a tag let me know!

operculum

I love these “doors” from the marine snails around our place, they rarely wash up so it’s exciting to find them.

Strangely I just read on wikipedia that the opercula of some species are used as an ingredient in incense – huh.
